Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo
The imagery of the modern soldiers moving forward to take the torches from the older generation (“…to you from failing hands we throw the torch. Be yours to hold it high…”), the swell of the music from the massed bands, the performance of “I Vow to Thee My Country” by the choir, and the “Highway of Heroes” video all combined to make it a very spectacular and emotional tribute to the brave and dedicated young men and women of Canada’s Armed Forces. My eyes, like the eyes of so many others around me, were filled with tears and my heart swelled with pride.Barbara Clancy St. John’s NFLD
What is the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo?
Quite simply - the world’s largest annual indoor show! Featuring over 2,000 world-class Canadian and international military and civilian performers, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo continues to live up to its reputation as one of the world’s premier cultural and entertainment events.
It is a fast-paced, two-and-a-half hour family show featuring music, dance, acrobatics, drama and comedy in a number of innovative acts.
First staged in 1979, when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother opened the original Nova Scotia Tattoo, it became the Nova Scotia International Tattoo in 1984 and on the occasion of her 80th Birthday in 2006, Her Majesty The Queen changed the name to the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.
