Ready for Take-off: Bond of Friendship Writing ContestFebruary 8, 2010, Halifax, NS: Imagine 6,000 people immediately knowing who you are, cheering you on for a job well done. One high school student in the HRM will have that opportunity when his or her name is announced during the world's largest annual indoor show. The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is proud to launch its first Bond of Friendship Writing Contest in high schools across Halifax Regional Municipality. Students are challenged to write an essay based on the Tattoo's annual theme the Bond of Friendship. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded with loads of goodies from the Tattoo, Future Shop, Empire Theatres and Dofsky's Urban Grill. Students will also have the valuable opportunity to have their work critiqued by local author Jim Lotz. The winners will be announced in May (and then again in July during the show). Tattoo CEO Ann Montague says, "We are pleased to be able to encourage high school students in our area to write and dive into the significance of relationships between countries and between civilians and military personnel." The Nova Scotia Tattoo is hoping this will become an annual event. Further information is available by contacting Leah Whitehead at (902) 420-4620 or lwhitehead@nstattoo.ca.
