Meet the Navy all over again!
May 19, 2010, Halifax, NS: There will be performers from Canada, Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Canada is marking a major anniversary this summer and the world’s largest annual indoor show is helping to celebrate in a big way! There will be impressive naval displays, races, bands and a reenactment of the 1940s hit Meet the Navy.
To help celebrate, the Marinemusikkorps Ostsee from Germany will be making its first Nova Scotia Tattoo appearance along with the Royal Band of the Belgian Navy from Belgium.
There are many other exciting performers from all around the world. The Paris Fire Brigade Gymnastics Team will be here. The Flying Grandpas and The Drill team of the Sixth Company from the Honorguard of the Department of Defence from Germany are sure to add excitement and spectacle. Representing the United States, the Marines are back! Forming a special band for the occasion, retired and honourably discharged members of the US Marines will look sharp, in their Band of America’s Few.
From Estonia Club Piruett, firm favourites with audiences on their previous appearances. To add even more balance, the Juliana Bicycle Team from The Netherlands is sure to impress. To top it off, the Queen’s Colour Squadron and specially selected Fanfare Musicians from the UK will entertain audience members.
As ever, the very best of Canada will be on display in the Metro Centre: a unique group of sisters, Ashelin, will capture the hearts of audience members with their beautiful Newfoundland-grown voices, the scarlets of the National Ceremonial Troop of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Band of the Ceremonial Guard and the Land Force Atlantic Area Band; the dark blues of the Stadacona Band of Maritime Forces Atlantic and the National Band of the Naval Reserve and it will all be topped off with the tartans of the Massed Pipes and Drums and Dancers.
There will be a Tri-Service Obstacle Race, an edge-of-your-seat Kootenay Competition and, as mentioned, the Navy Display Team. The Tattoo Choirs and Dancers will be joined by La Baie en Joie Acadian Dancers and the Titans Gymnastics Club. Soloists Brenna Conrad, Jason Davis, Derrick Paul Miller and Liz Rigney have all become great hits with our audience over the past few years.
The Tattoo is pleased to help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy and the 65th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
