Canada’s Black Watch:An Illustrated History of the Regular Force
Signed by the Author; Simon Falconer
In Canada, the Regular Force battalions of the Black Watch were formed in 1951 in response to the Cold War. Drawing on five reserve units from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Victoria and Nova Scotia, the Black Watch was first based in Aldershot, Nova Scotia, and later at CFB Gagetown. They were stationed in Germany with NATO, served in the Korean Conflict, and participated in the United Nations peacekeeping force in Cyprus. Then in 1970, the Regular Force Battalions were disbanded, and the Black Watch reverted to a one-battalion militia unit. Canada’s Black Watch: An Illustrated History of the Regular Force Battalions, 1951-1970 brings together the colour and pageantry of this legendary regiment. Photographs of soldiers, commanding officers, the beloved Colonel-in-Chief, HRH the Queen Mother, the uniforms, Colours, and medals salute the thousands of men who served their country for two decades of war and peace. Please note, due to the weight of this book, extra shipping fees apply.
