Heeresmusikkorps 12The Heeresmusikkorps 12 (12th Army Band) is stationed in Veitshöchheim near Würzburg in the northern part of Bavaria. One of the most important obligations is the support of the German Armed Forces in the home country as well as abroad on military ceremonies such as change of command, the pledge to the flag and the Great Tatoo. The 12th Army Band is mainly responsible for the southern region of Germany. Lately the Band also played for the German troops in Kosovo and Bosnia. Another important obligation is the representation of the German Armed Forces in public. Especially charity concerts with their broad variety of different literature, containing contemporary original compositions for band as well as entertaining music in all styles, are very popular. On international base the band gained a high reputation for their performances in Great Britain, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, USA and Canada. The 12th Army Band is named after the former existing 12th Tank Division stationed in Veitshöchheim near Würzburg in the northern part of Bavaria. The band was first setup as an Air Force Band in Nürnberg and moved to Veitshöchheim in 1966. Since 2002 the band is attached to the newly created “Air Mobile Division” of the army, which is also based in Veitshöchheim.
