Scott Long Named New Managing Director of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo
February 22, 2019 Halifax, NS: The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is delighted to announce that Scott Long, former Executive Director of Music Nova Scotia, will take over as its new Managing Director.
“Scott Long’s extensive background within the music industry, particularly his championing of Nova Scotian musicians and culture, will serve the Tattoo well,” says Harvey Morrison, Q.C., Chair of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Society.
Over a 20-year career, Long has been a touring musician with Ashley MacIsaac’s band (The Kitchen Devils) and worked as a recording artist, tour manager, technical director, artist manager, merchandiser, and sponsorship procurement and fulfillment officer.
“We’re thrilled to work with someone with such wide experience,” says Morrison.
Long has also performed and worked behind-the-scenes at high-profile events including the East Coast Music Awards, the Juno Awards, South by Southwest, the 2002 Winter Olympics, the 2010 Winter Olympics, the 2011 Canada Winter Games, and the New York City Marathon.
Long is also a piper with the 78th Highlanders Halifax Citadel Pipe Band (Grade I) and was formerly the Pipe Major for the Dartmouth and District Pipe Band.
“Music is an extremely collaborative element of our culture and showcases the best of our province’s artistry,” says Long.
“I’m very much looking forward to leading the Tattoo, which is one of the ultimate cultural events in Nova Scotia, and a coming-together of musicians, performers, and military personnel from all over the world.”
The 2019 Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo will celebrate the POWER OF PEACE and will take place from June 29th to July 6th in the Scotiabank Centre.
