United States Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team
Created in 1972, on Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C., the goal of the Drill Team was to supplement Air Force recruiting. Like the Air Force Thunderbirds, the air display team of the United States Air Force, the Drill Team was given the moniker of Ambassadors in Blue and served as the on-the-ground counterpart.
The Drill Team performs over 100 times per year. These shows range anywhere from humble high school gymnasium missions to professional sporting events and international tattoos. They perform locally with other Air Force agencies and all over the world for global outreach.
Drill Team members are selected from within the USAF Honor Guard and represent the best of each individual ceremonial flight. All have risen to the challenge of being part of the Drill Team and developed the discipline required to be a member of this elite performance unit.
Wherever the Drill Team travels, their purpose is supported by its guiding mission statement, “Recruit. Retain. Inspire”.
In all they do, the Drill Team personifies the integrity, discipline, teamwork and professionalism of every Airman and every Air Force mission.
